Thanks to modern technology, most built-in cameras on today\u2019s smartphones offer panoramic photo shooting capabilities. By simply following the on-screen instructions, users can capture images with a wider field of view than ordinary photos. However, such photos can only be considered \u201cwide-angle\u201d images; although the field of view is broad, they cannot yet provide the full 720\u00ba view that a full panorama can offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A typical 360\u00ba panoramic photo refers to an image that covers a full 360\u00ba horizontal field of view, commonly known as a panoramic photo. Thanks to the significant improvements in computing power of both computers and handheld devices, real-time image projection transformations have become feasible on personal computers, which has gradually expanded the market applications of 360 panoramic imaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 720-degree panoramic photo refers to:A horizontal and vertical field of view reaching 360\u00ba<\/strong>a full circular field of view<\/span>In other words, a typical 360 photo only defines the horizontal field of view and does not include the vertical field of view, thus not encompassingZenith<\/strong>andNadir<\/strong>view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 720-degree photo covers both a 360-degree horizontal and a 360-degree vertical field of view. Combining these two 360-degree views results in what is called a 720-degree field of view, giving rise to the new definition of a 720 panorama. Internationally and academically, such photos encompassing both horizontal and vertical views are collectively referred to as \u201cspherical panoramas.\u201d This classification is primarily based on the way the human eye perceives the world through projection, hence it is defined as \u300cSpherical Panorama<\/strong>\u300d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
