Baibao Creek in Shoufeng Township, Hualien, is renowned for its pristine, crystal-blue waters and riverbed terrain rich in "Taiwanese Jade" (Fengtian Jade). Unlike conventional flat landscape photography, we hauled our 720-degree panoramic equipment through rugged terrain deep into the canyon's heart, perfectly digitizing the serene forest canopy, cascading mini waterfalls, and crystal-clear streams. Through this virtual tour, you can transcend physical terrain limitations to effortlessly take in the magnificent canyon that river tracers treasure, and feel as though you are truly there — immersed in nature's refreshing vitality.

To authentically convey the canyon's raw wilderness, we abandoned bulky traditional DSLRs and heavy tripods. After a thorough risk assessment, we used drones to construct the macro landscape and strategically allocated ground equipment: in calm waters, a custom-weighted base paired with a smartphone captured detailed HDR; in raging currents, we decisively switched to a panoramic action camera. We even waded chest-deep into pools to set up equipment — all to give viewers the most immersive first-person river tracing experience possible.Taming the Rapids: Zero-Ghosting Stitching Craft
When shooting panoramas in rapids, the greatest enemy is the subtle equipment shift caused by water flow. To prevent destructive "ghosting" from multi-image stacking, we had to strictly control the number of exposures. The seam artifacts caused by water-induced misalignment relied entirely on painstaking post-production work — identifying extremely subtle feature points and performing meticulous manual repair in Photoshop. This was a challenge that tested patience to its limits, yet it remains the essential path to perfectly recreating the dynamic tension of a flowing stream.ETTR Light Strategy: The Perfect Compromise Between Shadow Detail and Sky
The deep gorge forests and direct sunlight create extreme contrast between light and shadow. Within our limited bracketing budget, we employed the professional "Expose to the Right (ETTR)" strategy, focusing recovery efforts on what the human eye notices most — canyon textures and stream colors — pulling maximum detail from the shadows. As for the sky and cloud detail that proved impossible to capture from the canyon floor, we ingeniously handed that task to a drone hovering high above. By complementing the strengths of different altitudes and equipment, we assembled the most captivating play of light in this hidden paradise.
